Spring Comes to Resaca de la Palma State Park
Welcome to the next webpage from Brownsville, TX.
It is late because the idea formed firmly about a week ago.
About 2 a.m. last Sunday morning I heard thunk…………….blop…………….bump…………..plop, plop…………………
I thought, what animal is now attacking my trailer in the middle of the night? Then I heard a noise in the distance that I knew wasn’t on the nearby train tracks but what was it, as it seemed to come closer. By the time I realized what it was, I was up closing my windows as it poured rain. I hadn’t heard rain since December, I didn’t recognize the sound of coming rain.
We got a half an inch of rain! While we are still in a severe drought with temperatures in the 90’s and winds frequently 25 mph and higher, the rain was enough to make many flowers and trees burst open for all to see. Not many will see what’s here as the park is closed to the public. All four counties of the Lower Rio Grande Valley are ordered to shelter in place and have evening curfews. Too bad chiggers and ticks don’t shelter in place as the moisture has increased their numbers.
Then came recording the music. I make many attempts before it is good enough for me to publish. Now I had to record between times when the air conditioner runs which meant many more attempts before I decided it was as good as it was going to be.
I hope you enjoy it. I offer it as my thoughts rise to the Holy One for you all to be safe and well during this crisis.
